When Did My MyCiTi Begun To Operate In South Africa?

As part of the FIFA World Cup demands for public transport to and from stadiums, the BRT project (MyCiTi) made headways thru the support of the National Government. Since the 2010 FIFA world cup, national investments in MyCiTi up till now has exceeded R10 billion.

About MyCiTi Bus
One of the ways to enjoy your travel is to board MyCiTi Bus. You can simply do this by first purchasing a myconnect card at R35 from MyCiTi station kiosks or appropriate retailers. After that, you Load Mover points onto the card you bought to pay your fares with respect to the distance you want to travel.
Mover packages are obtainable from R20 at MyCiTi station kiosks, Absa cash-accepting ATMs and appropriate retailers. You may equally load limitless travel packages for 1 to 7 days or even a month.

Take note, you can only change buses or routes within the period of 45 minutes and pay only one fare for the entire distance journeyed.
Tap in using your card when you begin your trip and tap out the time you leave to pay your fare.
Exception: children below the age of four years old and one metre tall, are not required to purchase the myconnect card before they can travel with MyCiTi bus. Such children have the privilege to travel for free.
Your balance can be checked on the validator when you tap in and out. You can also check your balance at the information terminals or the MyCiTi kiosk at the stations.
You can top up your “myconnect card” at a MyCiTi station kiosk, appropriate retailer, or cash-accepting Absa ATM.
